description of the NOVA Fire Services Coalition, downloadable copies
of the regional operations manuals and associated training outlines,
listing of committees and working groups and a calendar of events
and activities.

Apparatus Manufacturers' Association
The Fire Apparatus Manufacturers' Association (FAMA) is a non-profit
trade association organized in 1946. Members of FAMA are committed
to enhancing the quality of the fire apparatus industry and
emergency service community through the manufacture and sale of
safe, efficient fire apparatus and equipment.

Fire Department Safety Officers Association
The Fire Department Safety Officers Association was established in
1989 as a non-profit Association, incorporated in Massachusetts. Its
mission is to promote safety standards and practices in the fire,
rescue and emergency services community.

International Association of Fire Fighters
The International Association of Fire Fighters has more than 2,700
affiliates, representing fire fighters in more than 3,500
communities in the U.S. and Canada. The 263,000 members of the IAFF
are the nation’s full-time professional fire fighters and
paramedics, who protect the lives and property of 80 percent of the
nation’s population.

The mission of the National Fire Information Council is to encourage

safety and health solutions for reducing unintentional deaths and
disabling injuries. The NSC provides safety and health solutions to

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is a non-profit
membership association representing the interests of the volunteer
fire, EMS and rescue services. The NVFC serves as the information
source regarding legislation, standards and regulatory issues.

The Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) provides technical
assistance to local fire departments, health educators, medical and
public health professionals, classroom teachers, elder service
providers, community and service organizations, parents, caregivers,
and anyone else interested in collaborating on fire and life safety
education.

The Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, Inc. (VFCA) formerly known as
the State Fire Chiefs Association of Virginia, Inc., is the advocate
for leadership of emergency response organizations. VFCA provides a
comprehensive and integrated statewide public safety effort, thereby
enhancing the quality of life for our customers by reducing the
effects of fire, medical, and environmental emergencies.

State Firefighters Association
The Virginia State Firefighters Association is very active and
successful in bringing legislative issues important to the fire
service to the General Assembly and Governor. Members can elect to
participate in a Group Life Insurance program and are supported in
time of need by the Ladies Auxiliary.
