Income Sources
Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire and Rescue receives its operating income from a variety of sources:
- Residential fund drive. Every summer and winter
a donation letter is mailed to residents of the communities we
serve, updating the community on the status of our ongoing
activities and soliciting donations.
- Corporate donations and grants. We actively
solicit donations, sponsorships, and grants from businesses in our
community. This includes both direct support and employee matching
donations.
- Public service event donations. We provide
on-site EMS coverage for many local not-for-profit events including
runs, bicycle races, Special Olympics meets, and high school
football games. There is no charge for our coverage, pending
scheduling, however donations are welcome.
- Santa Runs. Each December we deliver Santa in a
fire truck, lights blazing and siren blaring, to Fair Oaks Hospital
and to neighborhoods throughout the area.
- Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. Each
year Fairfax County contributes $25,000 toward the debt service of
one vehice (ambulances cost about $220,000 and fire engines about
$600,000).
- Federal and state grants. Where appropriate, Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire and Rescue has applied for and received grants relating to communications equipment and tools to improve our service delivery.
